- Nanette Zack founded the AquaSprites Synchronized Swim Team in 1972 and continues to serve as Head Coach and since 1980 as Head Coach of the AquaSprites Masters Team. She has coached athletes to finals in the US Open, Age Group Nationals, Junior Nationals, Junior Olympic Nationals, and the US Masters Championships. Coach Zack earned a BS in Education in 1956 from Northern Illinois. She is a USASynchro Level 4 Coach and a Zone Judge.
- Zack began her career in synchronized swimming as an Amateur Athlete of the Lakeshore Athletic Club in Chicago from 1947 to 1954 and was awarded 11 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals. She received a gold medal at the World Games and a bronze medal at the Pan Pacific Games. Since 1980, she continues to actively compete as a Masters Athlete on the AquaSprites Masters Team in the USASynchro Masters Championships and she has won 34 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
- During her sixty plus years of involvement in this sport she has received “Coach of the Year” from the Women’s Sports Foundation, the “Paragon Award” from the Swimming Hall of Fame, the “May McEwan Memorial Award” from the USASynchro Masters, and the “Contributor Award” from the North Zone USASynchro organization.
- Coach Zack believes synchronized swimming is the “Sport for Life” that promotes a healthy lifestyle, self-esteem, teamwork, respect, responsibility, and life long friendships.
Ivelina Zografova, Assistant Coach
- Ivelina Zografova has served as the Assistant Coach for the AquaSprites since 2003. She has coached athletes to finals in Age Group Nationals. She earned her MS in Bulgaria in 1991. She is a USASynchro Coach Level 3A and an Association/Regional Judge.
- Zografova began her career as an amateur athlete in Lazur, Bulgaria from 1985 to 1987. She was an academic athlete from 1987 to 1991 and was awarded 10 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze medals. She was a member of the Bulgarian National Team from 1987 to 1990 and won 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Zografova actively competes on the AquaSprites Masters Team in the USASynchro Masters Championships, winning 4 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze medal since 2003.
- Coach Zografova tries to share her love for synchronized swimming while coaching athletes, to keep them involved in the vigorous activities of synchronized swimming for many years to come.
Liz Miro, Assistant Coach
- Liz Miro has served as Assistant Coach for the AquaSprites since 2003. She also coached the Evanston Township High School Aquettes from 2004-2007 and the Guilford High School Valkyrise in 2007. She is pursuing her BS in Education from Northeastern Illinois University and is an Association/Regional Judge.
- Miro began as an amateur athlete on the AquaSprites from 1995 to 2002 competing at the North Zone Championships from 1997 to 2002, at Age Group Nationals from 1997 to 2001, in the Junior Olympics in 1996, and at the US Open in 1999 and 2002. Miro actively competes on the AquaSprites Masters Team in the USASynchro Masters Championships since 2004, winning 6 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.
- Coach Miro’s goal while coaching is to share her love for the sport of synchronized swimming while promoting the ideas of teamwork, athleticism, responsibility, and friendship.
Veronica Morgan, Assistant Coach
- Veronica Morgan has helped coached the Aquasprites since 1999, during the summers while in college and as Assistant Coach since 2006. She has also coached the Guilford Valkyries of Rockford in 2007. She completed her BA in Corporate Law in Mexico. Veronica is currently a Level 2 association/ regional judge.
- Morgan began as an age group swimmer in 1994 and competed from 1994-1999 participating in the North Zone Championships from 1996 to 1999, at Age Group Nationals from 1995 to 1999, in the Junior Olympics in 1996, US Junior Nationals in 1997 and 1999 and at the US Open in 1999 and 2002. Morgan actively competes on the AquaSprites Masters Team in the USASynchro Masters Championships since 2005, winning 9 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. Miro and Morgan also competed as a duet at the FINA World Masters Championships in Perth Australia in 2008, and are ranked top 10 in the world.
- Coach Morgan hopes to inspire swimmers to be creative and expressive, help build individual self-esteem, and share the importance of sportsmanship.
